It’s one thing for someone to ask for a favor. It hurts when they do it under false pretenses BUT it is much worse when they claim to be Ambassadors of God’s Word.
I had a minister INVITE me (via phone call) to an evening service. She said she wanted me to read some of my poetry during the service.
After I arrived, she asked me to do the opening prayer. A few minutes later, she asked me to do the welcome. There were 10 of us all total and 3 were visitors but I was the visitor she asked (while continuously mispronouncing my name).
Once the guest preacher delivered the message she asked me to take up the offering. After that, she thanked everyone for coming. Not once did I get to do any poems and she offered no apology.
You know that old saying, “Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.” I say that because she did it twice. My fault too because I treated the first time as if she forgot (an oversight).
However, when she did it a SECOND TIME, I REALIZED THAT I WAS BEING USED!!
Therefore, “Pray for those who spitefully use you…” (Matt 5:44 or Luke 6:28). All is forgiven but these days I know the difference between working for the Lord and being manipulated. God does not deceive you or do things under a cloak of omission.
I bring this to your attention because there are many WHO DO GOD’S WORK but there are some who DO NOT DO IT IN A GODLY WAY. “Just Keeping it Real.”
BE CAREFUL. STAY WOKE!
