Germantown Church of The Brethren

300 Anniversary Poem

300 Years, God’s Faithfulness Over the Ages

A special occasion, a particular date;
each year it comes, we commemorate
the anniversary of a happening;
celebrated with a party, an award, or a ring.

None of us were here in 1723
but 300 years later, we are making history.
3600 months and this house of God still stands
proof positive that this was God’s divine plan.

30 decades of service in keeping with the Word;
witnessing to those who may not have heard
of Jesus Christ who came as Redeemer of us all
and instead of us; paid the price that came from Adam’s fall.

15-score (20 years each) and we hope many more
GCOB continues to seek understanding
of the radical nature of the body of Christ
as we continue to do as God is commanding.

We strive to be a church for all people,
all races, every color and creed can come in.
15,600 weeks spreading the Good News
recognizing that there are even more souls to win.

There have been many pastors, congregations too,
the work of this church always remained true;
to continue to serve, to help and to pray
over more than 109,500 days.

Germantown Church of the Brethren’s been here
for 3 Centuries, she has bloomed where she is planted;
doing God’s work through His mercy and by His grace
and by no means taking that for granted.

1200 seasons, sunshine or rain
ministering to people who might be in pain;
giving comfort and support whenever it’s due
because that is what Brethren (and Sister-en) do.
